Washing at a self-service launderette costs from 5 € per washing machine and from 1 € to dry, with the detergent and softener already included, and in under an hour your clothes come out washed and dry. If you have never used one, or you are on holiday in the south of Tenerife and are not sure what it will cost you, here are the real prices and times, with no small print.
How much does it cost to wash at a self-service launderette?
The price depends on the size of the washing machine you choose. In our launderettes the guide rates are:
- Small washing machine — from 5 €: ideal for an everyday wash, the clothes of one or two people.
- Medium washing machine — from 7 €: for the family wash or several loads together.
- Large washing machine — from 9 €: up to 22 kg, perfect for duvets, beach towels, bed sheets and bulky items.
With the loyalty card you pay less on every wash. Capacities and rates vary slightly from one launderette to another, but the price is always on display before you start: no deposits and no surprises.
How much does it cost to dry your clothes?
Drying is paid for by time: from 1 € for every 5 minutes in large-capacity dryers (15 kg). A normal load comes out dry in 15–20 minutes, so drying works out at around 3–4 €. You decide how much to dry: once your clothes are ready, you do not spend a penny more.
How long does it take to wash and dry?
Less time than you think. The wash cycle takes about 27 minutes and drying starts from 15. All in, in under an hour you walk in with dirty clothes and walk out with them clean and dry.
And there is no need to wait around: put the wash on, pop out to run an errand or grab a bite, then come back to collect it. The machines show the time remaining at all times.
What is included in the price?
Unlike doing the washing at home, here you do not have to bring anything. The price of the washing machine includes the detergent and softener, which the machine dispenses on its own. You can also choose a programme for delicate clothes or without softener if you prefer. No buying products and no lugging bottles around: just your clothes.
How do you pay?
Easy and coin-free: you pay by card (contactless too) or with cash at the payment station. Forget about hunting for a one-euro coin before you can put a wash on.
A real example: how much does one wash cost me?
Picture a typical weekend wash: you pick a medium washing machine (7 €) and dry it for about 20 minutes (4 €). Total: around 11 € and under an hour to get all your clothes ready, with the detergent included. If you have a lot to wash —duvets, beach towels or the whole family's laundry— a large washing machine of up to 22 kg sorts it all in one go and works out even better value than doing several loads at home.
Compared with the time, the detergent and the wear on your washing machine at home, a self-service launderette is fast, affordable and hassle-free. You walk in, wash, dry and get on with your day.
